Tottenham are in talks to sign former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles, according to reports.
Meireles has spent the past three seasons with Turkish giants Fenerbahce after leaving the Blues in 2012.
The 32-year-old has impressed during his time with the Istanbul-based club and Daily Express [via Gianluca di Marzio] reports Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on bringing the Portuguese international back to the Premier League.
Meireles made a total 67 Premier League appearances during stints at Liverpool and Chelsea and could prove to be a shrewd signing by Pochettino should the deal go through.
Tottenham have added three defenders during the summer window, with Dele Alli the only addition to the side’s midfield during the off-season.
Pochettino is believed to be looking for midfield reinforcements and Meireles would help add solid depth in the middle of the park for Spurs.
Meireles has earned 72 caps for Portugal, scoring 10 goals.
