Former Chelsea and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has tipped Pedro to do “very well” at Manchester United should he make the move to Old Trafford.
The Barcelona attacker has been heavily tipped to join the Red Devils this summer and this week confirmed that he has asked to leave the Camp Nou.
Torres knows what it takes to make a smooth transition from La Liga to the Premier League, and feels that his international teammate would be a success in England.
He is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror: “He is a good friend, and if he decides that England is the next step in his career, I am sure he will do very well there.
“He has all the ability you would expect from a player who has been at Barcelona for so many years, but also he has a great work ethic.
“I think he will find it very hard to leave Barcelona, but I understand as much as anybody how important it is to be playing regularly – especially once you reach a certain age. You need to be at a club where you are playing a lot of football.”
Recent speculation has claimed that Manchester City are ready to hijack their local rivals and swoop for World Cup winner Pedro, who has a rumoured £21.2m release clause in his Barca contract.
