Eto’o wants to stay in London.
Cameroon international striker Samuel Eto’o wants to remain in the Premier League despite running down his contract with Chelsea last season.
The 33-year old’s preference is to stay in London itself and hence is reportedly in talks with newly promoted QPR, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp too is intent on strengthening his squad with proven Premier League talents and has already signed 35-year old Rio Ferdinand and former Tottenham Hotspur defender Steven Caulker.
The Hoops are now in talks with Eto’o’s agent, who has flown in to England. Eto’o’s high wage demands could be a stumbling block, but the former Barcelona star will probably have to take a wage cut to make the move happen.
Eto’o seems to be having a burning desire to prove his ex-boss Jose Mourinho wrong, and thus also tried to force a switch to Arsenal, an attempt which turned out to be futile.
Eto’o’s association with Chelsea ended bitterly after Mourinho questioned his age, which turned out to be the reason for Eto’o turning into a butt of ridicule in the second half of last season.
