Rodgers considering a move for Eto’o.
After leaving Chelsea this summer Samuel Eto’o is still yet to find a new club, yet Brendan Rodgers is considering giving him a chance at Liverpool, reports the Guardian.
The Reds are still on the lookout for attacking support having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona this summer and Rodgers is considering Eto’o as an option.
As yet no approach has been made for the 33-year-old, who spent one year at Stamford Bridge after signing from Anzhi Makhachkala.
Eto’o scored 12 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, but finished his time in West London on a somewhat sour note after publicly falling out with manager Jose Mourinho.
The striker has been in talks with Ajax over a move to the Eredivisie, but is likely to be tempted by the chance to stay in the Premier League with a Champions League side.
However, with annual wages of around £7m the Merseysiders are still unsure whether a move for Eto’o would be financially viable, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the top tier of European club football.
Replacing Suarez has proven somewhat problematic for Rodgers and although Rickie Lambert has arrived from Southampton in a £4m deal, the Northern Irishman wants more support upfront.
The 41-year-old has already seen an £8m move for QPR forward Loic Remy collapse and therefore Eto’o’s experience could prove to be the best option available.
