Former England batsman Kim Barnett has been fined £380 for harassing his ex-wife.
Kim Barnett was forced to pay fines of £380 after putting a picture of his ex-wife in his car next to a picture of a witch.
The retired cricketer, who played domestically for Derbyshire and Gloucestershire as well as England, was put in front of Magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.
Reports on the Telegraph’s website said that prosecutor Leanne Jones told the court that Barnett had put a picture of his ex-wife and a picture of a witch in his car, accompanied by the slogan – “Which is Witch?”
The images were seen by the cricketer’s former wife, Janet Barnett, in September last year and charges were brought against the 52-year-old for harassment.
Kim Barnett played four Test matches for England in 1988 and 1989, but continued in first-class cricket right up until 2003 before calling time on a 25-year career in the sport.
Magistrates at the hearing were told that Barnett has been suffering with mental health issues since the break-up of his marriage in 2010.
Barnett also admitted to the court that he had driven past his ex-wife’s home on several occasions, despite a harassment warning being put in place in April 2012.
The retired England batsman was also ordered to pay £250 in costs after pleading guilty to the charges put to him.
