Former England test spinner Graeme Swann has labelled Kevin Pietersen’s controversial new book as “fiction”.
Speaking at an awards ceremony at Lord’s, Swann denied he was part of a group of bowlers who were guilty of “mocking”, “ridiculing” and “bullying” team-mates.
Pietersen also included wicketkeeper Matt Prior in his criticisms of England test players.
“I expected it to be the biggest work of fiction since Jules Verne and that seems to have happened,” Swann was quoted as saying in The Telegraph.
“The one thing I will say is that I immediately realised it was codswallop when I read the character assassination of Matt Prior.
“Tragically I don’t think Kev realises the one person who fought tooth and nail to keep him in the side is the one person he is now assassinating: Matt Prior.”
Matt Prior yesterday took to social media to announce he was “sad” to see the accusations levelled against him by Pietersen, and that he would have a right of reply at some stage.
1/2 Obvs sad to see the accusations against me this am and I WILL have my right of reply! However today is not the day and Twitter is not..
