The North Queensland Cowboys have signed John Cartwright to a one-year deal as an assistant coach.
Cartwright coached the Gold Coast Titans since its inaugural season in 2007 until last year and will act as support to Cowboys head coach Paul Green.
The 49-year-old has previous experience as an assistant with Kangaroos in 2008, as well as the New South Wales Origin squad in 2004 and 2011.
Cowboys general football manager Peter Parr said Cartwright’s capture is a “huge boost” to the club.
“There’s no doubt John brings an outstanding coaching resume to the Cowboys,” Parr said.
“His arrival is a huge boost for our club and gives us an outstanding coaching staff to take into the coming season.”
Cartwright also had a distinguished playing career, notching up 188 first-grade appearances for Penrith and featured in 18 Tests for Australia.
