Former England players Jamie Carragher, Ray Parlour, Stan Collymore and Michael Owen select their starting teams to play the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
With England manager Roy Hodgson naming his squad of 23 players for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, a number of journalists and pundits have named who they would select to start for the Three Lions.
Jamie Carragher, Michael Owen, Stan Collymore and Ray Parlour all played for England and have plenty of experience at the top of the game. Here are their starting sides for the tournament in Brazil.
GOALKEEPER:
Jamie Carragher: Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Michael Owen: Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Stan Collymore: Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Ray Parlour: Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Joe Hart predictably starts in all four former players’ England teams, with the Manchester City man playing at the highest level of all Roy Hodgson’s options in the goalkeeper position.
Hart looks highly likely to claim a second Premier League title of his career on Sunday, and also has more UEFA Champions League experience than any of his rivals for the number one shirt.
