The Norwegian left-back can leave the club on a free transfer…
Fulham have told 32-year-old left-back John Arne Riise that he can leave the club for free, as he is no longer in their plans, reports The Sun.
Riise made 75 appearances in just two seasons at Craven Cottage, but is now no longer in Dutch boss Martin Jol’s plans.
“Yes, it looks like I will be parting company with Fulham this summer,” said the ex-Roma and Liverpool fullback.
“Fortunately there is an agreement for there to be no fee, so let’s see what the rest of the transfer window brings.”
Fulham have signed well this summer, bringing in Adel Taarabt, Maarten Stekelenberg, Derek Boateng, Fernando Amorebieta and Sascha Riether already, and have managed to keep hold of their best players.
The Norwegian is a cult-figure at Liverpool following a wonderful freekick goal against Manchester United ten years ago. He has won the support of fans wherever he has played thanks to his friendly persona, his impressive work-rate up the left flank, and a ferocious left-foot shot. He has won 110 caps for his country, making him Norway’s record appearance holder, and scored an impressive 49 goals throughout his 15 year career to date.
