Premier League’s five baddest eggs, with Arsenal, Liverpool & Man City rotters
Mellor is telling the Reds to sign a striker early in the transfer period, which they failed to do last summer.
Liverpool is in serious need of a striker, as they do not have any proven scorer beyond Daniel Sturridge, who is second in goals for the Reds with seven. This was just behind midfielder Steven Gerrard, who leads Liverpool with eight goals.
Sturridge is currently recovering from hip surgery and is expected to miss the start of next season, so the depth at forward is even more of a glaring weakness.
Mellor wrote a full article on Liverpool Echo and encouraged the team to listen to fans’ desire for forward Christian Benteke, who has scored 12 goals for Aston Villa this season.
Signing Benteke would fill a large hole for the Reds, especially after losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
