Ajax’s Eriksen seems to open to a move to Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur and former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund target Christian Eriksen admits to admiring Spurs but says no discussion has happened about a move from Ajax.
The talented attacking midfielder has received interest from several top European clubs this summer after another impressive year in the Netherlands, with Spurs apparently the most likely suitors currently.
Yet whilst Eriksen believes Tottenham are an attractive club, the 21-year-old reveals no negotiations for a transfer have happened.
“Tottenham are a great club. I know this from talking to Jan Vertonghen. They are a good club who are very interesting, but there has been no contact,” the Denmark international told BT.dk.
“We’ll find out in two weeks (what will happen). There are, to my knowledge, no negotiations right now, either with a new club or Ajax.
“My stance is the same. I will look at interesting offers and if nothing materialises then I will stay with Ajax.”
Eriksen has been in the senior team at the Amsterdam Arena for three-and-a-half years, winning three Eredivisie titles in that time and making 161 appearances for Ajax in all competitions, including Champions League experience.
During the midfielder’s spell for the Dutch champions the Dane has scored 31 times and provided 64 assists, operating mainly behind the striker and certainly more offensive than defensive.
Eriksen is about to enter the last year of the midfield star’s current contract with Ajax and therefore the club may be tempted to sell in order to avoid losing the maestro on a free transfer in 12 months time.
