Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has heaped massive praise on the Red Devils’ new signing Anthony Martial, labelling the youngster the “next Thierry Henry”.
The Premier League giants completed a deal for AS Monaco man for a reported £36m fee, however, it is understood that could increase to as much as £58m including bonuses and add-ons.
The transfer has made the 19-year-old the most expensive teenager in football history, but Saha says Martial has the talent to live up to the massive price-tag.
“He’s got that speed, that power, he’s got that youth in him so he’ll surprise a lot of defenders because they don’t know him,” Saha is quoted as saying by Goal.
“It’s a great asset for Manchester United and that’s what they needed because up front they lack speed sometimes. In France we call him the next Thierry Henry because he can play left or right, he’s got a great ability with the ball, he can take on three, four players with ease, there is no problem. At the same time, the new generation have no fear.
“He’s got such an ability that he can win trophies for Manchester United I believe that, but I don’t want to put too much pressure on him.”
Martial has just 53 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt, and the massive price-tag left some to suggest Louis van Gaal made a last-minute panic buy due to the reported interest of Chelsea.
The youngster is expected to be thrown straight into the deep end against Liverpool on Saturday.
