Former Portland Trail Blazers small forward Jerome Kersey has died at the age of 52, but the cause of his death is unknown.

He had undergone knee surgery just a few days before passing away though
Kersey had played 11 seasons with the Blazers before becoming a journeyman with the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Seattle Sonics, San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks.
In 1999, Kersey helped lead the Spurs to an NBA title although he played a minimal role with the team. His best season came in the 1987-88 season when he scored 19.2 points per game while averaging 8.3 rebounds, and he scored 19.8 per game in the playoffs.
Blazers owner Paul Allen reacted to Kersey’s death in a statement. “Today we lost an incredible person and one of the most beloved players to ever wear a Trail Blazers uniform,” Allen said.
Kersey retired from the NBA in 2001 after spending a total of 17 seasons, and he had served as the Blazers’ director of alumni relations.
