The girl in question was arrested by French police for shoplifting in November and they found explicit messages and photos from M’Vila.
The Rubin Kazan midfielder’s lawyer Thierry Fillion was quoted in the Daily Mirror: “It would be best if Yann’s trial was not happening in the media. As far as I know, he has not yet been called to answer questions by the police.
“We have to let the police and the justice system do their work. It is also essential to allow Yann M’Vila the chance to defend himself.
“People will say: Here we go, another story which fits in with his lifestyle and personality’. The main thing is to let the justice system resolve this story. If there is a story.” Another unnamed footballer has also been implicated.
The former Rennes star is accustomed to being in the headlines. He is currently seving a ban from the France national team following an unauthorised night out.
Previous to that he was banned for one game by French boss Laurent Blanc for refusing to shake his hand after being substituted.
French stars Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema are already in the dock for a similar offence.
