Italy star poised to pen new two-year deal at Juventus.
Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has said that he is close to signing a new contract with the Turin side.
The 34-year-old, who was reportedly targeted by Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea last year, has just over one month left to run on his current deal.
However, he is poised to commit his future to the Italian champions until the summer of 2016.
“More or less we have reached an agreement,” Pirlo told Gazzetta dello Sport. “I hope the announcement will be made in the coming days.”
Pirlo has been at Juve since joining from AC Milan in July 2011.
He has made 29 league appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
Pirlo, who has been capped 108 times by Italy at senior international level, has been named in Cesare Prandelli’s provisional 30-man squad for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.
