The three Samoan players dropped from Saturday’s opening Four Nations match against England have been fined £5,500, the NRL has announced.
Reni Maitua, Tautau Moga and Sauaso Sue have been punished for their involvement in a nightclub incident in Brisbane on the weekend.
The NRL’s general manager of integrity Nick Weeks said the organisation would not tolerate player misbehaviour.
“In other words, these are very substantial penalties for the players involved,” Mr Weeks said.
“And we will continue to take a tough stance against players who damage the reputation of our game through these kinds of incidents.”
The NRL said in a statement that it took into account the players’ salaries in determining the levels of the fines.
