Inter Milan’s Ranocchia has also attracted the attention of Man United and Tottenham.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in signing Inter Milan centre-back Andrea Ranocchia, according to the Daily Star.
All four have been linked with the Italy international on several different occasions over the past few months, with CalcioMercato suggesting back in July that Spurs were competing with Zenit St. Petersburg for the defender.
Since then the north London team have bought in Vlad Chiriches as reinforcement at the back, although there could still be a place for Ranocchia if Younes Kaboul were to be sold.
However, the Red Devils were linked with the 25-year-old even longer ago, with the Daily Express suggesting back in May that the Premier League champions were preparing a £12.8m bid.
With both Rio Ferdinand and club captain Nemanja Vidic approaching the end of the defender’s careers, David Moyes will be looking to find replacements.
It was around the same time that Spurs were being named as a potential destination for Spurs that the Gunners also struck up their interest, reports Football Italia.
Now it is the Blues and Jose Mourinho that have taken up the mantle, as the west London side seek to find a replacement for David Luiz.
The Brazilian has been linked with big money moves to both Barcelona and Bayern Munich in recent times – as Tribal Football have reported – and Mourinho is willing to allow the 26-year-old to leave.
This would open up a place for Ranocchia, who is an Italian defender who follows in the tradition of fellow countryman with a strong defensive nous and a great talent for tackling and breaking up play.
The centre-back has been at Inter for nearly three years, having joined from Genoa in January 2011 and going onto play 103 matches in all competitions to date.
