Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is out of contract at the end of the season. Here are four reasons the Gunners must keep him at Emirates Stadium beyond the summer.
Injuries – not Wenger – halted Arsenal’s title charge
While the regularity in which Arsenal suffer injuries means fans regularly question whether their team’s poor record can be mere coincidence, it is also important to remember that Arsenal topped the Premier League table up until February, when injuries disrupted their season.
It would be hard for any team to cope with injuries to the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Laurent Koscielny and Santi Cazorla – each of whom have missed significant portions of the campaign.
If Arsene Wenger was regularly able to select from a full Gunners squad, they might well have maintained their title charge.
