The Sky Blues made it three wins in four games on their pre-season trip.
Sydney FC coach Frank Farina praised his side for the progress they have made on the club’s tour of Italy after Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over A.S. Cittadella.
The Sky Blues arrived in Jesolo two weeks ago for their pre-season training camp and have now chalked up a hat-trick wins against Serie B and C sides since falling to 3-2 defeat to Padova in the first match.
With their preparations for the 2013/14 A-League season going better than expected Farina revealed his delight at the development of his squad and admits he has been impressed by their application in training.
“It’s going well,” Farina told Football Austraila. “Four games is a lot, particularly when you are playing one game one day and another the day after but we have progressed both in the way we want to play and the players in general are looking sharp so I’m pretty pleased with the way we’re going at the moment.
“We’ve trained a lot. I think we’re up to 56 sessions (including work back in Australia) and we’re on track for where we want to be but the games are very important and they’ve served a purpose for us at this stage.
“We say that results don’t count but every professional sportsman or footballer loves to win so to be winning and getting out of it (the matches in Italy) what we want is even better.”
