Ivorian has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Gunners.
Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille are interested in signing misfiring Arsenal front man Gervinho this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The Ivory Coast international has only been with the north London club for just the past two seasons now, having originally signed for the Gunners from Ligue 1 side Lille for £10.8 million in July 2011.
However, it is fair to say that in the intervening two-year period the 26-year-old has struggled for both form in front of goal and confidence, resulting in the player spending large parts of the previous campaign warming the substitutes’ bench.
In fact, the attacker registered just seven goals and five assists in his 26 matches in all competitions for Arsenal last season, including five strikes and three assists in his 18 Premier League contests, with the South of France giants hoping to be able to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the forward’s future by luring Gervinho to the Stade Veledrome this summer.
“This is a profile that interests us, yes. We want flank players, with dribbling, passing and scoring and Gervinho has this profile,” said Marseille assistant coach.
