Coach Derrick Pereira plans to play him alongside fellow recent signing Darryl Duffy.
Salgaocar FC have completed the signing of French striker Claude Gnoakpa from Al-Mina SC.
The 27-year-old has been training with the Greens for the past five days and has signed a permanent deal at the Fatorda Stadium, completing their foreign quote for the 2013/14 I-League season.
After coming through the ranks at Montpellier in his native France, Gnoakpa had playing spells in Scotland, Spain, England and most recently Iraq before his move to India and admits he hopes to play alongside fellow new recruit Darryl Duffy up front.
“The boys are good, and have welcomed me warmly. We have a lot of laughs and generally a good time,” he told NDTV.
“Chika (Wali) is a good guy, very involved. I’ve not met (Seiji) Seito but I’ve heard he’s a good player, delivers good passes and is good with the ball, which is important since I’m a striker. As for Darryl (Duffy), he’s great and we will gel really well. I hope to play alongside him.”
Coach Derrick Pereira hinted that he is likely to pair Gnoakpa and Duffy together in attact next term and hopes it will give Salgaocar FC the required cutting edge in the final third.
“We are glad to have him on our side and his ability to break through defence will certainly boost our strike force,” Pereira said..
