Fulham allow Martin Jol to remain in his role as manager, but provide assistance in former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen.
Fulham have appointed former Manchester United trainer Rene Meulensteen as head coach, with the Dutchman set to work alongside current manager Martin Jol.
Jol has had a difficult time in recent weeks, with the Cottagers almost in freefall at present, and owner Shahid Khan has acted to prevent them being trapped in a relegation battle.
“We’re all delighted to welcome Rene to Fulham. There was always going to be a battle for Rene’s services and, with the assistance of our Chairman Shahid Khan, we’ve been able to bring one of the best coaches in the world to Fulham,” said Chief Executive Officer Alistair Mackintosh to the official club website.
“I was impressed by the vision of Shahid Khan and Alistair Mackintosh,” said Meulensteen.
“I’ve spent many hours talking with Martin Jol and we share a vision of how football should be played and how players should be developed.
“It’s our job to make sure we can bring this vision to life on the pitch for the fans.”
