Despite desire to strengthen midfield- Jol will not pursue Frank Lampard in the Summer.
Fulham boss Martin Jol has officially ruled out any move to sign Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard during the Summer transfer window.
Speaking ahead of the clash between the West London sides match on Wednesday, Jol said how much he admired the midfielder, and that it is only in a hypothetical world that he will play for The Cottagers.
“Everyone would love to have him. He’s fit and is a good character,” Jol told The Metro.
“He will have a smile on his face if he listens to Fulham but I would love to have him. But it’s hypothetical as he will never play for Fulham. I’m not sure he will play for a top-10 team.
“He’s a legend – a living legend. I have a feeling Chelsea will keep him.”
Despite a desperate need for strength and experience in a Fulham midfield that has been over powered all season, Jol seems to take a realistic approach when it comes to the potential switch between the two rivals.
At 34, Lampard is now well into the twilight period of his career, and his future at Chelsea is still up in the air, with his current contract running out at the end of this season.
It will be whether the team does decide to re-sign the player to a short term deal or not that interested team will truly know if they have the chance of a still productive and reliable Premier League player.
