The agent of Fulham centre-half Brede Hangeland has confirmed there is interest in his client from several ‘top clubs’, and there is compelling evidence that Arsenal may be among the interested parties.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Norway international for the best part of three years and with Arsenal currently in desperate need of a centre-half, there has never been a better time to swoop for the 31-year-old, who is available on a free transfer this summer.
The current Arsenal back four has lurched from one disaster to the next so far this season and, after boss Arsene Wenger dropped captain Thomas Vermaelen last weeks, it looks likely the club will dip into the transfer market for a new centre-back this summer.
Although Hangeland appears happy at Craven Cottage, he would surely jump at the chance to finish his career at a club challenging at the top end of the Premier League and in Europe, whilst remaining in London, making a switch to the Emirates an attractive propsect.
But would the powerful Norwegian be a good fit for Arsenal? Our scouting report follows on the next two pages.
