David de Gea can pout all he want, but it looks like he’s going nowhere fast.
If Man United goalkeeper David de Gea was hoping he could whine and complain his way out of Old Trafford, he may be mistaken.
According to the Express, the main club contending for De Gea’s services – La Liga giant Real Madrid – have already picked their replacement for departed stopper Iker Casillas by naming second-year man Keylor Navas as the No. 1 goalkeeper this season.
David de Gea, who has openly expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford in the recent past, has been heavily linked with a transfer to Real Madrid with members of his inner-circle already suggesting that a deal is nearly done if not done already.
The move no doubt puts a damper on plans for the PFA Goalkeeper of the Year to move to Real Madrid, who are now no longer in a position where they would feel a need to pay upwards of £20 million plus Sergio Ramos just to land a goalkeeper.
Navas played sparingly as Iker Casillas’ backup in the 2014-15 season and has 61 caps for the Costa Rican national team.
