Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, who is one of the all-time greats and virtually guaranteed a spot in the Hall of Fame, had high praise for St. Louis Rams quarterback Austin Davis.
“Not to sound off my rocker, but he — in my mind — can be the next Tom Brady or Kurt Warner. Brian Hoyer as well. Austin, like those mentioned, just needed a legit opportunity,” Favre said to ESPN.
These comments likely stem from the fact that Davis helped lead the Rams to an upset victory over the Seattle Seahawks. However, Davis has performed solidly throughout the season.
This also has to do with Brady and Warner being unknown commodities before turning into Hall of Fame-caliber quarterbacks. Brady was drafted in the sixth round, and Warner was never drafted and worked at a grocery store.
His passer rating is 94.3, and he has completed 66 percent of his passes while throwing nine touchdown passes against four interceptions.
Davis has received an opportunity to start for the Rams despite starting out as a third-stringer behind Sam Bradford and Shaun Hill.
