Manchester United are still hoping to make one last signing before the transfer window closes on Tuesday, and Real Madrid striker Gareth Bale remains one of their prime targets.
The Red Devils will have to act quickly though, as the Daily Star reports that Real Madrid have rejected their bid offer of £73.1m.
This falls below the price that the La Liga giants paid Tottenham Hotspur, as Bale made a world-record £85m transfer in 2013.
Real Madrid are extremely reluctant to sell the Welsh international, but it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will be able to resist an offer close to £100m if Man United are willing to splash the cash.
Bale was used as a scapegoat during Real Madrid’s trophyless season last term, however, Real Madrid are understood to be desperate to hold onto the winger.
It appears unlikely Bale will make a move this summer unless the Red Devils conjure up a bid in excess of £100m.
