Manager Andre Villas-Boas says that Bale’s injury will keep the forward out of action for the next two weeks.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has told BBC Sport that Gareth Bale will miss the next two weeks with an unspecified injury.
With the transfer window closing in just 16 days, Bale would miss Spurs’ season opener against Crystal Palace, their Europa League match against Dinamo Tbilisi and the following Premier League game against Swansea City.
“For Palace, for Tbilisi, for Swansea, he will not be in line to threaten to come back,” said Villas-Boas.
Spurs’ first North London derby match of the season away to Arsenal is on September 1st, which Villas-Boas has yet to rule Bale out of. However, it does lie perilously close to both Villas-Boas’ estimated return time and the close of the Premier League transfer window.
The date set by Villas-Boas will of course raise eyebrows amongst Spurs camp due to the long-running and well-documented ongoing transfer battle with Real Madrid over the coveted Welsh attacker. It would seem that neither Spurs nor Madrid fans really will not have any idea about Bale’s future until the clock strikes 11 o’clock on September 2nd.
