Manchester United made a huge summer signing last month when 111-time Germany international Bastian Schweinsteiger joined from Bayern Munich.
It was originally reported that United had paid Bayern £14.4m for the 31-year-old midfielder, but German tabloid Bild have published a new report, claiming that he was actually much cheaper than that.
According to Bild, Schweinsteiger cost just €9m, which works out as £6.3m.
Schweinsteiger has yet to make his first start for the Red Devils.
However, he has made three substitute appearances.
United have won all three games in which Schweinsteiger has featured, beating Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Club Brugges.
