Khedira would be the Gunners’ highest paid star if he has his way.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger must agree to pay £150,000 per week to 27-year old Real Madrid ace Sami Khedira in order to land him at the Emirates Stadium, reports the Daily Mail.
The French boss has reportedly made a hefty £24 million bid to land Khedira, who has only one more year remaining on his contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, and while the transfer fee could be accepted by the Los Blancos, Khedira’s lofty wage demands could be an issue.
Arsenal’s record signing from last season, Mesut Ozil, is currently the highest earner at the club, making around £140,000 per week, yet Khedira’s reported wage demands would make him the highest paid player at the club.
Wenger does need an enforcer of the calibre of Khedira, but it remains to be seen whether the North Londoners would be willing to match the German’s demands.
With Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho also interested in the midfielder, Wenger will have to finalise the deal quickly to get his man.
