Löw says that Los Blancos’ decision is ‘incomprehensible.’
The sale of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid to Arsenal on Monday came as quite a surprise to many and the midfielder’s national manager, Joachim Löw, believes it was the wrong decision by the Spanish giants.
“Many Real players like Sami Khedira or Cristiano Ronaldo are sad about the transfer,” the Germany coach was quoted in the Guardian.
“For me, it’s incomprehensible that Real would sell one of their top scorers.
“Mesut is a sensitive player and he needs the faith from the club and the coach.
“It seems that was not longer 100% there at Real whereas Arsenal and their coach Arsène Wenger pulled out all the stops to get him.”
Ozil is currently with German side as the country prepares for two upcoming internationals, but will join up with the Gunners squad and next week and will be available for their next Premier League match against Sunderland.
There has been no player with more assists in European football in the last five years than the 24-year-old and it is easy to see why Löw thinks Los Merengues made the wrong decision.
In 159 matches since joining Madrid from Werder Bremen in 2010, Ozil has directly provided 81 goals for team mates and gained a strong bond with Ronaldo.
Now at the Emirates Stadium, Wenger will be hoping the midfielder can bring that form to north London and help the club win their first piece of silverware since an FA Cup triumph in 2005.
