Germany player ratings from its 4-0 demolition of Group G rivals Portugal in Salvador.
Manuel Neuer 7
Had little to do, but pulled off two decent saves to deny Cristiano Ronaldo and Hugo Almeida early on.
Jerome Boateng 6.5
Played out of position on the right-hand side of defence but was rarely troubled by Nani or Fabio Coentrao.
Per Mertesacker 7
Kept Almeida quiet and looked comfortable on the ball.
Mats Hummels 8
Excellent game by the Borussia Dortmund defender, he was solid at the back and scored with a well-taken header. Limped off injured in the second half and it will be a huge blow to the Germans if he is to miss any matches.
Benedikt Hoewedes 6
Was lucky not to concede a penalty on Eder, but apart from that the Schalke defender has a quiet night.
Phillip Lahm 7
A typical Phillip Lahm performance. Simple, functional, yet excellent.
Sami Khedira 7
Should have scored early on with an open goal at his mercy, however he made up for it with a good performance in midfield where he dictated the tempo alongside Lahm.
Toni Kroos 8
A fantastic match by the Bayern Munich man. Was a constant threat for the Portuguese defence and rarely, if ever, lost the ball.
Mario Gotze 7.5
His constant movement gave Portugal problems all night, and he won the penalty that got the ball rolling for Germany.
Thomas Muller 9
Cooly slotted home an early penalty and completed his hat-trick with two well-taken goals. Could do without the play acting, though.
SUBSTITUTES
Andre Schurrle 7
Came on and provided an assist for Muller’s hat-trick. Jurgen Lowe couldn’t ask for much more from the Chelsea attacker.
