The Chelsea legend says Barkley will shine at the World Cup if given the opportunity.
Former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli says that Ross Barkley will shine at the World Cup, but suggested that the youngster would come off the bench in most of England’s games.
Barkley, just 20 years old, is tipped to become England’s next big thing and Vialli said that Italy could come to rue the fact that they don’t know all too much about the Everton whizz-kid.
“If Ross Barkley comes off the bench he will be a major threat because nobody in Italy knows about him,” Vialli said.
“He is very talented and can cause the opposition problems with his vision and passing and shooting ability.
“The World Cup is about going into the tournament as a good player and coming out as a world class player.
“By the end of it Barkley could become invincible.”
Barkley has been capped six times by England after making his international debut in a World Cup qualifier against Moldova last September.
