Gilberto enjoyed a six-year spell with the Gunners that saw him pick up an FA Cup and play a key part in the club’s unbeaten season of 2004.
The 38-year-old has recently been released by Atletico Mineiro in his homeland and is now looking to take the next step in his career and has revealed that he has received an offer from the Gunners.
“Anything is possible,” he said. “It makes me happy when you have these offers, people see you have different ideas, you can contribute and it makes you happy and motivated,” he said.
“And it makes me want to learn from others, develop my knowledge and also develop my own style.”
However, he still harbours ambitions of continuing as a player, though he recognises that may not be possible at this late stage in his career.
“Anything is possible, I have not received any invitation here in Santa Catarina, I’ve had some offers to play again, but nothing here,” he said.
“The issue of rehabilitation is in the final stretch, but I’m open (to holding) a good conversation where everything can be solved.”
