The Suns are seeking further specialist opinion on the extent of the midfielder’s injury.
The Gold Coast Suns say that it may take up to two days to determine how long star player Gary Ablett will be out of action for after dislocating his shoulder.
The 30-year-old underwent scans on Monday, but the club say they will seek further opinion by specialists to help determine the extent of the injury.
Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft said the degree of the injury was still to be determined.
“We are still in the early stages of diagnosing the injury,” he said.
“Over the next 24 to 48 hours our medical staff will engage specialists who will work with them to ensure the full extent of the injury is established and the most appropriate form of treatment is provided.”
It is believed Ablett will miss a minimum of three weeks, though the time taken to diagnose the injury suggests it could be longer.
Gold Coast currently sit in 8th on the AFL ladder, with Adelaide and Essendon only a win behind and fighting to knock the Suns out of a finals position.
