It was a gritty win from the Titans who lost halfback Kane Elgey with injury in the first half and then Aidan Sezer to a high shot in the second.
The Tians raced to a 16-2 in the first half and had to hold on as Wests rallied. The Tigers hit the lead but couldn’t keep it and Gold Coast got home with a late four-pointer.
Wests got on the scoreboard first with a penalty. But the Titans got the first try through the class of Sezer.
Then Elgey stepped up, not to be outdone by his halves partner.
James Roberts touched down just before the break to extend the Titans lead.
Earlier in the second half Sezer slotted a penalty and then a field goal to take the score to 19-2.
The Tigers finally got a try on 59 minutes when Chris Lawrence crashed over.
A few minutes later and James Tedesco barged through.
And when Lawrence got his second, the Tigers had a surprise lead.
But the Titans woke from their sleep and a special effort from Anthony Don put them back in front.
In the final minutes Sezer was hurt in a collision with Sausao Sue.
It was important win for the Titans but a costly one with both Sezer and Elgey injured.
