Neil Henry says he is interested in bringing Ben Hannant back to his home city.
Gold Coast Titans coach Neil Henry says he would be interested in bringing prop Ben Hannant back to the Gold Coast if the player can’t agree to a new deal with the Brisbane Broncos.
The 29-year-old Gold Coast product is off contract at the end of the season and is expected to know his future at the club by next week.
It has been reported the Broncos do not have enough room in their salary cap to offer Hannant a new deal.
Henry told Triple M Radio in Brisbane that he would be interested in signing Hannant if the club can fit him into its own salary cap.
“He could be available, it’s looking likely,” Henry said.
“It’s whether or not we can fit him in the cap, the polar bear. He’s certainly a quality player and he lives down the Coast so he’d be a good fit that way as well.”
Henry said the club needed to bring in players to replace the losses of Ashley Harrison, Luke Bailey and Mark Minichiello.
“We’ll have to have a look at it,” he said.
“We’re losing some experience this year and we need to replace that.”
