Dave Taylor looks set to miss the rest of the NRL season due to a neck injury.
Gold Coast Titans forward Dave Taylor looks likely to miss the rest of the NRL season with an ongoing neck injury.
The 26-year-old defied medical advice to play in the Titans’ 26-18 loss to the Sydney Roosters on Monday, in a match which was the last in charge for club foundation coach John Cartwright.
The loss all but ended the Titans hopes of playing finals football.
Cartwright told Triple M radio that Taylor should not have taken the field at Allianz Stadium.
“He shouldn’t have played,” Cartwright said.
“He’s got quite a bad bulging disc in his neck. I don’t know whether he’ll play for the rest of the year.”
Cartwright added the Queensland State of Origin representative’s desire to play thought the pain barrier was commendable, as was a pre-game speech by Greg Bird pre-match in the dressing rooms.
