The Dolphins added RB Knowshon Moreno to help their 26th ranked rushing attack.
With plenty of cap space in 2014, the Dolphins added some key defensive players and three offensive starters
Players added:
Branden Albert – T, Louis Delmas – FS, Cortland Finnegan – CB, Earl Mitchell – DT, Knowshon Moreno – RB, Shelley Smith – G
A look at each player:
Branden Albert is a highly rated offensive tackle who started most of his games for the Chiefs, but between his high salary demands and the team drafting Eric Fisher No. 1 overall in 2013, the Chiefs let him go in 2014.
Louis Delmas and Cortland Finnegan are both veteran playmaking DBs who have seen a slight decline in plat in the past few years.
Earl Mitchell is a nose tackle who started 14 games for the Texans in 2013, recording 30 solo tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Knowshon Moreno is a former 1st-round draft pick from Denver who had his best season in 2013, but decided to pursue free agency. He recorded 13 total TDs in 2013 – tied for 5th most in the league.
Shelley Smith is an offensive guard for the Rams with 8 career starts. He will move to Center and replace Mike Pouncey as he recovers from off-season surgery.
Grade: B
The Dolphins got three offensive starters and some decent DB depth, though the price they paid may have been a little too high, especially if Moreno misses too much time due to a recent injury.
