Grandfather bet Wilson would play for his country.
Harry Wilson’s grandfather pocketed £100,000 last night after the Liverpool youngster, 16, made his debut for Wales.
The foresighted punter placed a bet on Wilson playing for his country when he was just 18 months old and it came off as he appeared from the bench in the 87th minute of Wales’ 1-1 draw with Belgium in Brussels.
In doing so, the midfielder became the youngster player in Wales’ history, with previous record holder Gareth Bale 108 days older when he made his debut.
Boss Chris Coleman said the Liverpool staret had a great future.
“If he fulfils his potential there is another good player on our hands,” said Coleman.
“Now he has had a little taste of it, that cements his future with Wales for the next 10 or 15 years.”
Wilson took to twitter to thank the fans for their support:
Great moment for me personally tonight, would like to thank everyone for the support and all the kind messages!
