Filipe Luis‘s prospective return to Atletico Madrid appears to be on hold for the time being.
Reports last week suggested that Chelsea had agreed to sell the Brazilian for £15m, only 12 months after signing him from the La Liga giants for £16m.
Luis travelled to Spain this week to undergo a medical, and both the player and club had been waiting for the green light from Chelsea before the Blues suddenly demanded more more, reports AS.
Madrid have apparently reminded the Londoners that a deal was already in place, but Chelsea will apparently demand that Luis return to England should Atletico not cough up.
The 29-year-old failed to usurp Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back in his debut season in England, making only nine Premier League starts in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign.
Jose Mourinho is already thought to have identified Augsburg’s Baba Rahman as Luis’s replacement.
