The Green Bay Packers played their second preseason game against the St. Louis Rams, and they came away with a win on the road.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his 2014 preseason debut and played nearly perfect, throwing for 128 yards and a touchdown pass on 11-for-13 passing. Running back Eddie Lacy also looked solid in his limited action, rushing for 25 yards on five carries.
Backup Scott Tolzien also looked solid, throwing for 107 yards on 10-for-15 passing. On defense, undrafted rookie linebacker Jayrone Elliott stole the show in the fourth quarter with three consecutive sacks. The Packers already had three sacks before that drive, including one from safety HaHa Clinton-Dix.
For the Rams, quarterback Sam Bradford looked good in his first time back on the field in 10 months. He threw for 101 yards and a touchdown on 9-for-12 passing. However, the running game did not perform well as Zac Stacy was held to six yards on six carries, and Tre Mason rushed for only 30 yards on 12 carries.
The defense looked spotty as well, but there were shining moments such as a 10-yard sack of Matt Flynn by rookie defensive end Michael Sam. This will certainly help his bid to make the roster.
