Green Bay Packers special teams assistant Ron Zook has been promoted to coordinator since the firing of Shawn Slocum.
Ranking dead last in the NFL in special teams ultimately cost the Green Bay Packers a shot at the Super Bowl as tight end Brandon Bostick dropped an onside kick that was recovered by the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship.

The Seahawks went on to win the game despite trailing, 16-0, at halftime. Special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum was fired by the Packers as a result of their special teams miscues throughout the season, and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The Packers had many kicks and punts blocked throughout the season as well. Linebacker Sam Barrington revealed that special teams assistant Ron Zook has been promoted to coordinator.
Zook had previously been the head coach for Florida and Illinois while also serving as defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.
