The Green Bay Packers will face the Oakland Raiders on Friday as they look to keep improving their defense and the Raiders continue to search for their starting quarterback.
The Green Bay Packers had a convincing preseason win over the St. Louis Rams as quarterback Aaron Rodgers and running back Eddie Lacy made their preseason debuts. The team will look to build on its victory against the Oakland Raiders on Friday.
They didn’t miss a beat as the offense flowed smoothly with them on the field, and Rodgers threw a touchdown pass. DuJuan Harris also looked promising with 32 yards on seven carries despite losing a fumble.
The defense struggled against Rams starting quarterback Sam Bradford, but they got it together and held the Rams to zero points after he stepped out of the game.
Outside linebacker Jayrone Elliot stole the show in the fourth quarter with three consecutive sacks on a single drive, and the entire team totaled seven sacks.
The Raiders put together a comeback win against the Detroit Lions with a game-winning touchdown pass from third-string quarterback Matt McGloin.
Derek Carr greatly improved his performance from his preseason debut by passing for 109 yards and a touchdown on 9-for-16 passing, and he will return healthy after surviving a scare that involved his ribs and a concussion.
He will have another opportunity to surpass Matt Schaub, who continued to struggle with an interception. His confidence is clearly still shaken, so the Raiders’ quarterback competition is still wide open.
On defense, rookie outside linebacker Khalil Mack recorded his first sack and is showing steady improvement.
