Man United may have received the boost they’ve been waiting years for with a new report stating Real Madrid are prepared to put megastar Ronaldo up for sale.
According to the Metro, a recent report from France Football, a respected French publication, stated that Real Madrid are looking to sell their 225-goal megastar with Ligue 1 champions Paris St. Germain (PSG) as the intended buyer. The report stated, “Madrid would prefer to sell to PSG as part of a partnership which could see several players change clubs.” Whatever the reality of the situation is regarding Real Madrid’s possible decision to make Ronaldo available, Man United will want to have a say – as their reported £71.1m offer to the La Liga outfit would no-doubt indicate.
The news falls in line with the widely-held belief that Real Madrid’s new manager Rafa Benitez is looking to build his team around superstar Gareth Bale instead of Ronaldo. But last week Ronaldo publicly said that rumors of his return to the Premier League were “absolutely false.”
A breakout star with Man United in 2006, Ronaldo led the Red Devils to three consecutive Premier League championships and countless accolades before a record-setting sale to Real Madrid in 2009. Since joining the La Liga club, Ronaldo has been virtually unstoppable, scoring 225 goals in just 200 appearances and recording 31 hat tricks. He has scored 50+ goals in each of the last five seasons.
