Chelsea will not be renewing Christian Atsu’s loan deal at Vitesse Arnhem, according to the Dutch club, with a number of clubs in England and Germany monitoring the Ghanaian international’s situation according to reports from Voetbal International in Holland.
Atsu, who joined the Blues from FC Porto last summer, is rated as particularly exciting young player who impressed for Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but he is yet to make a first team appearance for Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
The 22 year-old is one of a number of players who have been signed by Chelsea only to struggle to be given an opportunity to show why once they arrived in West London.
He is also one of many who have been farmed out to Vitesse Arnhem, something of a nursery club for Chelsea playing in the Dutch Eredivisie, for whom Atsu had a fine season, scoring 5 league goals.
Talking to Voetbal International, Vitesse coach Peter Bosz appears to have given up hope of Atsu returning:
“Atsu will not return to Vitesse.”
“Half of the Premier League and Bundesliga are on his trail.”
Bosz’s latter comments are particularly interesting, suggesting that Premier League fans may soon get the chance to see Atsu in action – albeit not for the club that signed him.
