The Germans will be hoping that £2.5m will be enough to lure the forward away from the Emirates.
Bundesliga side Hamburger SV have lodged a £2.5m bid for Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.
The Dane has been notoriously out of favour at the Emirates for several seasons now, but every club who has pursued him has been unable to match his wage demands – the Dane is reportedly on an estimated £50,000 per week.
Goal.com claim that Hamburg are the sixth side to enquire after Bendtner this summer, with discussions with Malaga and Frankfurt all falling through at the personal terms stage.
Now at 25-years-old, Bendtner has seemingly outstayed his welcome in North London. Promising in his youth, the towering centre-forward has failed to convert his bravado into goals on a regular enough basis.
A loan move to Sunderland in the 2011-12 season saw perhaps his best form with eight goals in 28 appearances for the Premier League strugglers.
Bendtner went out on loan again last season to eventual Serie A champions Juventus. However he failed to make much of an impact, his poor performances in training leading to only eight league appearances and no goals scored.
With all of Arsenal’s transfer struggles this summer, fans may perhaps be considering changing their thoughts on Bendtner due to a threadbare squad. Should Olivier Giroud pick up an injury, Bendtner becomes the only out-and-out striker left for the Gunners. Any chance of a return at this stage looks unlikely though, with the season now in its second week and Bendtner still without a squad number.
