Former Arsenal and Chelsea ace Ashley Cole has been cut from the Roma squad for their opening game of the new Serie A season.
Cole has been shunned by coach Rudi Garcia in pre-season, and it appears as though that trend will continue this weekend.

The former England international struggled in his first year in Italy last season, and he was eventually dropped from the team.
While the capital club are in the process of trying to sign PSG left-back Lucas Digne, there had been rumours that they would terminate Cole’s contract.
That hasn’t happened as of yet, but Garcia confirmed in his press conference on Friday that the veteran wouldn’t be featuring at all against Verona on Saturday evening.
“Cole will not be called. It’s a choice made by the club, we decided together.”
It remains to be seen what happens next for the 34-year-old, but it certainly doesn’t look good as far as his future in Rome is concerned.
