The more telling part comes as the squad for the new campaign will be unveiled to the supporters before kick off, and the former England international’s absence suggests that he is no longer part of the plans.
Coupled with Roma’s pursuit of Lucas Digne, with the PSG left-back expected to sign this week, it spells the end of the former Arsenal man’s adventure in Serie A.
It is reported by Sky Sport Italia that the 34-year-old could see his contract terminated, as he still has a year left to run on it.
It will come as a blow to Cole who had been reenergised by his move to Italy, but it now appears as though he will be considering his options ahead of the new campaign with no suggestions of where he could end up next.
