The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini, 35-18, in the Heart of Dallas Bowl to finish with a solid 9-5 record.

Louisiana Tech defeated Illinois in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, 35-18, after pulling away with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. They held the lead the entire game, but Illinois made it close again by trimming the lead to three in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs improved their record to 9-5 as the Fighting Illini fell to 6-7.
The Bulldogs’ win boosted Conference USA’s bowl record to 4-1, and this marks the conference’s last game of the 2014-15 bowl season.
Bulldogs quarterback Cody Sokol had a respectable performance with 247 yards and a touchdown pass on 14-of-28 passing, and running back Kenneth Dixon ran for 63 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
Defensive back Xavier Woods also put points on the board for the Bulldogs with an interception that was returned 69 yards for a touchdown.
Fighting Illini quarterback Reilly O’Toole threw for 295 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 24-of-39 passing.
Aside from a 50-yard run by Mike Dudek, the running game was relatively quiet as the Fighting Illini rushed for a total of 122 yards.
